A volunteer group of community members who support the Library through fund raising, service, and programming. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Lakeshore Room at ALPL. Open to new members.
What Is Our Purpose?
Friends of the Avon Lake Public Library is a non-profit volunteer organization which provides funds to enhance library programs and acquisitions, supports legislation to strengthen the library and encourages public use and enjoyment of library services and facilities.
Who Are We?
The Friends of the Avon Lake Public Library is a group of over 400 individuals and families who believe in the library and its services.
What Do We Do?
The Friends is a nonprofit organization dedicated to help support the library through various activities including volunteer service, cultural, educational and recreational events.
The Friends provide additional financial assistance for the continuing improvement of the library facilities and its programs.
Your support allows the Library to provide programs for all ages. Friends supported programs include enlightening author/luncheon programs, unique and interesting excursions, and programs for children and youth.

Rockin' a Summer's Night

Avon Lake Public Library is pleased to present, in concert, rock trio
“the High Strung” with an opening performance by Alana Bilancini
(2008 winner of the Avon Lake High School Talent Show.) The energetic
music of Detroit’s “the High Strung’ electrifies concert
goers with their witty, lyrical bravado. This intergenerational and
interactive event will appeal to Beatles fans of yesterday and rock
fans of today. The audience will also participate in writing and improvising
a song. The concert will be held outside on the south lawn, so bring
your blanket or lawn chair. Funded by Friends of ALPL. (“the High
Strung” also appear at Rocky River Public Library, 1600 Hampton
Road, Rocky River on Monday, June 16 at 7:00 p.m.) (Outside)

In partnership, Friends of Avon Lake Public Library and Love-A-Stray (a local non-profit pet adoption and rescue organization) will present a variety of adoptable pets for all you cat and dog lovers. (Outside) | | | | | | Girls Night Out | | Thursday, June 19, 2008 | | 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM | | Grab your girlfriend and enjoy an evening out. Make a really cute summer necklace using the “tin cup bead knotting” technique. Of course, we’ll serve dessert. Class is limited to 20. Fee must be paid at time of registration at the Circulation desk. Friends of Avon Lake Public Library registration begins June 5;
fee - $8.00. General public registration begins June 10; fee - $10.00.
(Friends Room) | | | | | | Lemonade for Our Library | | Saturday, June 21, 2008 | | 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM | | Children, parents, families and neighbors are invited to the Friends of Avon Lake Public Library’s 1st Annual “Lemonade
for Our Library” lemonade stand competition and fundraiser. Groups are to set up their lemonade stands at home or in other approved public areas. Entry fee of $10 and all lemonade sale proceeds go directly to the Friends. Entry forms with detailed information and guidelines available at the Library. Prizes will be awarded.
